Intune Deployment Guide for Inspiration 12

Accessing and logging in to the Intune portal

1. Navigate and log in to https://intune.microsoft.com with your Microsoft account credentials which has the necessary permissions to create and deploy applications.
   
2. Ensure that the logged in user has a valid license:
   
1. Go to Troubleshooting + support.
   
2. Select the logged in user and confirm the user has a valid Intune license.
   

Creating the Inspiration 12 application in Intune

1. Go to Apps > Windows.
   
2. Select Add.
   
3. For App type, select Windows app (Win32).
   
4. For Select File, click Select app package file and select the Inspiration12.intunewim or Inspiration 12 Enterprise IE.intunewin which has been provided.
   
5. Once you have selected the correct file and Intune has correctly identified it click OK and proceed to the next section.
   
6. Provide details to identify this application within your tenant, we recommend the following details:
   
1. Name field: Inspiration 12
   
2. Description field: Inspiration 12 by TechEdology
   
3. Publisher field: TechEdology
   
4. Version field: 12.0
   
5. e. If the application deployment will be optional for some users/devices and would like to display the application in the featured section of the Company Portal, set Show as a featured app in the Company Portal to Yes.
   
7. Once all information has been filled in click Next to proceed to the Program section.
   
8. Provide the following details for the Program section fields:
   
1. For the Install command enter Install.bat
   
2. For the Uninstall command enter Uninstall.bat
   
3. Make sure Install behavior is set to System.
   
4. Change Device restart behavior to No specific action.
   
9. Click Next to proceed to the Requirements section.
   
10. Provide the details for the Requirements section fields:
    
1. For Operating System Architecture if you still have devices which are 32-bit installations or are unsure, select both 32-bit and 64-bit, otherwise select only 64-bit.
   
2. For Minimum operating system select the oldest version of Windows currently being used on your tenant, if you are unsure, we recommend setting the lowest version available which as of currently is Windows 10 1607.
   
3. While Minimum disk space required is not a required field, we recommend setting this value to 300 so devices check prior to the deployment to make sure the device has enough available space on the hard drive.
   
11. Click Next to proceed to the Detection rules section.
    
12. For Rules format select Manually configure detection rules.
    
13. Select the Add button and in the Rule type dropdown select File.
    
1. For the Path field type
   
1. For US edition C:\Program Files (x86)\Inspiration 12 
   
2. For IE edition C:\Program Files (x86)\Inspiration 12 IE
   
2. For the File or folder field type
   
1. For US edition: Insp12IE.exe
   
2. For IE edition: Insp12.exe
3. For Detection method select File or folder exists in the dropdown.
   
4. Click OK to save changes then click Next to proceed.
   
14. Skip the Dependencies section. If you are upgrading from Inspiration 11 you can specify the Inspiration 11 application you previously created in the Supersedence section by clicking Add, otherwise skip this section by clicking Next.
    
15. Under the Assignments section you can specify if you would like the application to be optional or enforced.
    
16. If you would like the application to be a required install, under the Required section choose from the following:
    
1. For installations on all Intune managed devices select Add all devices.
   
2. If you would like to deploy the program to specific group(s) of users select Add group and type the name of the group(s) in the search box, once you see the group in the results select it by clicking the group and then click Save to proceed.
   
17. To allow users to have the option to install manually using the Company Portal, choose the following:
    
1. To make the application available to all users or devices select either the Add all users or add all devices option.
   
2. If you would like only certain groups of users to have the option to install the program, select Add group and type in the name of the group(s) in the search box, once you see the group in the results select it by clicking the group and then click Save to proceed.. Note you can use both sections and have the application as requirement for certain groups and optional for other groups.
   
18. Once you have completed the Assignments section click Next and review the options you have selected are correct, if you are happy with the results click Create and keep the webpage open until it shows upload finished in the top right-hand corner or Notifications section.
